Configuring the Wilkes.edu Wireless Network on Windows XP/2000

First steps: Installing PEAP
First download the Microsoft PEAP installer program. You can find it on the Microsoft website or download it here.

Once downloaded, unzip the extractor. The installer program will pop up automatically.

From the menu, choose Custom Install/Upgrade. Click next.

In the following window, click on the plus sign next to Security Modules.
Uncheck LEAP and EAP-FAST, but check PEAP. Then click next.

Reboot your machine after it prompts you.

Configuration: Within windows.
Be sure your wireless adapter is turned on, using the switch (if avaliable) on your computer case.

To ease the installation process, select the Wilkes.edu Wireless network and click connect. At this point, it WILL fail, but that is good ;)

In the View Wireless Networks window, click on 'Change Advanced Settings'.
Select the tab 'Wireless Networks'.
In the 'Preferred networks' list box, find Wilkes.edu. Click it and then hit properties.
Configure your settings just like below.



Click on the properties button to change settings for PEAP the same as above.

Once you have selected Secured Password, click on 'Configure'.


Click Ok, Ok, Ok, Ok and now go back into the 'View Wireless Networks' box.


. Click on Wilkes.edu and then click 'Connect'.

Watch the taskbar down near your clock for a Balloon to pop up saying something like 'Click here to select a certificate...'. Click that and enter your username and password you use to log on to wilkes campus computers and add WILKESU to domain.

Congrats! You now have wireless internet!
